AWCCI held an online session on “More Afghan Women in Business” Campaign for female students and graduates of Public and Private Universities on June 16, 2020 through zoom. Participants of this program were 25 female students of Kardan University, American University of Afghanistan (AUAF), Rana University, Ghalib University, Kabul and Polytechnic Universities. We also had Afghan students from Kuwait University and Abant Izzet Baysal Turkey. This program included a brief overview of AWCCI’s establishment, objectives of the session and Campaign, a presentation on Entrepreneurship and Business, entrepreneurship exercises, a panel of successful businesswomen on their business journey, Question and Answer between businesswomen and students, and at the end Networking opportunity for students with businesswomen.
The objectives of this session and campaign are to make female young generation aware of the new improvements in the business sector of Afghanistan, to encourage female young generation, see entrepreneurship as an option and not working for others, to ensure them of existence of a network of women as a support system for them, to help them hear firsthand experience of businesswomen.
The session started with a welcome note, introduction of AWCCI and program’s objectives by Ms. Parwarish Oryakhail, the Vice President of AWCCI. Subsequently, Ms. Sayeda Faqirzada, the Director of Women Business Resource Center (WBRC), talked about the activities of WBRC and the support that this center provides female startups. Later on, Ms. Oryakhail deliver a presentation Entrepreneurship and Business and worked out the Entrepreneurship exercise with students.
Next was the panel discussion where three successful businesswomen, Ms. Mohsena Saqeb, President of Jama Design, M. Hasina Zaeefi, Owner of Akaam Zaeefi Group of Companies, from Kabul and Ms. Hafiza Mohammadi, Owner of Art House from Mazar shared their business journey and entrepreneurial experiences with participants. The participants enjoyed watching their work, products and showrooms online. During the program, the participants interacted with AWCCI executive team and businesswomen and asked questions which are answered. The students were eager to continue these sessions and AWCCI will continue serving them with further steps.
