After several meetings in the last months, a consultation meeting on finalizing the draft manual of “Made by Afghan Women” trademark with coordination of Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MoIC) held on Oct 11, 2018 in AWCCI. In this meeting, Ms. Afsana Rahimi, Chair of AWCCI Board of Directors, Ms. Parwarish Oryakhail, Business Development Services Director Ms. Fazila Azizi, Head of Small and Medium Enterprises in MoIC, AWCCI Board members and staff participated. Ms. Afsana Rahimi, Ms. Parwarish Oryakhail and Ms. Fazila Azizi led this session. The aim of this consultation meeting was to finalize the standards assigned for “Made by Afghan Women” trademark, women products, and granting requirement, tripartite Committee duties, and other related issues. Tripartite Committee consists of AWCCI, MoIC and Afghanistan National Standards Authority. In total, 21 businesswomen participated in this session.
“Made by Afghan Women” trademark was launched in May 2018 with the short term goal of raising Afghan women products picture and their sales, and the long term goal of increasing the export of women products and creating job opportunities. AWCCI, MoIC and ANSA as a three side committee are working on its branding and promotional plan.
Ms. Fazila Azizi, as representative of MoIC, provided inputs on the standards of “Made by Afghan Women” trademark. She emphasized on enriching this trademark as a national trademark that can be used by every businesswoman.
The participants took part in the discussion on standards for “Made by Afghan Women” trademark. At the end, the manual for this trademark was finalized. Granting the “Made by Afghan Women” trademark by authorized entity to the products and services of Afghan women businesses will be next.
Meanwhile, MoIC had interview with 13 Women businesses of AWCCI members for the survey under the title of “10 top Entrepreneurs of Afghanistan”.
