Afghanistan Women Chamber of Commerce and Industries (AWCCI) held emergency assembly of AWCCI to elect three emptied Board of Directors on Thursday August 30, 2018 at AWCCI office.
The aim for this event was to elect three board members based on the decisions made in board meeting held in July 2018 by the remaining 8 members. In this event the chamber’s members and current directorate members participated. Around 40 members attended the program.
This program was opened by holy Quran recitation and AWCCI president Ms. Manizha Wafeq welcome speech to the guests. Afterwards, Ms. Afsana Rahimi chair of Board of Directors delivered a speech on AWCCI achievements in Chamber’s one year life and the role of Board of Direction. Then, legal expert to AWCCI Ms. Sultana Khaknizhad presented the by law of Afghanistan Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry to members to familiarize members on the candidacy requirements and voting in election procedure. Since monitoring committee didn’t show up, three women were chosen by member and monitored the whole procedure of election and documents of candidates. They checked the candidates files for eligibility. Then the candidates were called on the stage to introduce themselves and talk about their achievements, and plans for AWCCI development.
In this program business women who have membership of AWCCI and the current Board of Directors voted for their desired candidates and ones with majority of the votes were chosen elected as new members of Direction. Namely, Nastaran Bina, Mohsena Saqeb and Sameera Sarwar were the top three candidates with majority of the votes. Elected candidates were congratualated and gifted with a bouquet of flower.
As a courtesy to members and a use of their availability AWCCI had made an arrangement with Insurance General Directorate to attend the end of the event and provide a presentation introducing insurance affairs and the importance of its role in country’s development to business women including some opportunities.
