Establishing coordination among relevant agencies for the economic empowerment of women through women’s market in the center and provinces

H.E. Ms. Spogmai Wardak, Deputy Minister of Women Affairs chaired the meeting at the Ministry’s conference hall. In this meeting Ms. Manizha Wafeq President and Founder of AWCCI, Ms. Parwarish Oryakhail Business Development Services Director of AWCCI, representative of National and International organization such as Zardozi, Women for Afghan Women, Women for Women International and UNDP after introduction, they discussed the existing mechanisms for organizations. The key issue was establishment of coordination among relevant agencies for the economic empowerment of women through Women’s Market in center and provinces. The main problems of women in handicraft sector, are the lack of Markets and promotion of their products. The entities that work in this sector shared their views for the improvement handicrafts.

The main concluding poinmt of meeting was to pay attention to the sales and marketing of women’s products and donors should provide enough funding to them. Secondly, the exhibitions will be held in a competitive way between the provinces so that women can get acquainted each other products.

In Coordination with Ministry of Women Affair, Afghanistan Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry will allocate a day for women’s sales under the name of Women’s Market.

A Tripartite MoU will be signed between the Ministry of Women Affairs, Afghanistan Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Zardazi Organization, which will identify the activities of each institution in the memorandum of understanding and thier cooperation in each field. AWCCI has the responsibility of marketing and to hold exhibitions and MoWA will facilitate and monitor the process.
