First consultation meeting was held on Made by Afghan Women Trademark by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Afghanistan Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry. At this meeting, government dignitaries, representative of women businesses and AWCCI leadership participated. The event opened by recitation of few verses of the Holy Quran. The meeting was chaired by H.E. Ms. Kamila Sediqi Deputy Minister of Ministry of Commerce and Industry. In this meeting H.E. Prof. Ferzo Khan Masjidi Deputy Minister of Commerce and Industry for private sector and industries development, Ms. Fazila Azizi Head of Small and Medium Enterprise Development Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Ms. Manizha Wafeq President, Ms. Afsana Rahimi AWCCI Chair Board of Directors, Ms. Parwarish Oryakhail AWCCI Business Development Director, representative from Afghanistan National Standard Authority (ANSA) Mr. Pazhwak, representative from American University of Afghanistan David Fox, and around 25 women businesses participated.
Ms. Kamila Seddiqi welcomed all the participants and asked respected Prof. Ferzo Khan Masjidi to present his speech. Mr. Masjidi said that the Ministry prepared the project of creative industries for women entrepreneurs, and after approval by the respected President Office, lots of changes will come in women businesses. He also said that the MoCI is always supportive of women businesses and by the cooperation of AWCCI, will work to promote and develop of women’s entrepreneurship.
Meanwhile Ms. Manizha Wafeq stated that AWCCI main goal is to standardize the products of businesswomen. She also said that the standardization of women businesses products will become good when their products prerequisite for introduction into local and foreign markets standardizations are met. Each women-owned business will have to go through some process after that Brand will be printed on their products. Promotion and Branding plan for the TradeMark “Made by Afghan Women” is prepared by AWCCI and after the review in meetings, MoCI and AWCCI will finalize the design. Next meetings to follow and the launch will be in April 26th 2018 in celebration of International Day of Intellectual Property Rights which has Women Change: Creativity and Innovation as its theme. This is in line with Women Economic Empowerment National Priority Program. Thanks to the leadership of MoCI for their collaboration and support with AWCCI and Afghan Women Businesses.
Ms. Fazila Aziz said that we all support standardized products of women and through this Brand Mark women will focus on the quality of their products.
Representative from ANSA and women businesses also support the brand mark and for its standardization presented their views.
Ms. Kamila Sediqi summed up the meeting and said that an evaluation should be made to identify creative women. All women must have a commitment to work. It is possible to bring change in a country for which we have to support each other. It was also decided that the meeting again will be held in which women entrepreneurs can share idea of Brand Logo with us.
