On Sep. 12, 2020, Mr. Shah Zaman Maiwandi, the Director of National Environment Protection Agency (NEPA), Mr. Faisal Shirzai, the Deputy Governor of Kandahar, Mr. Mukhtar Rashidi, Advisor to the President, and a number of high ranking officials in Kandahar Governor Office met with AWCCI, ACCI, ACIM, ACALP, their members and industrialists.
In the beginning, Ms. Zahra Zahid, AWCCI – South Zone Manager in Kandahar and one of AWCCI’s member, Ms. Razia Haidari, talked about the problems that have hindered the development of industry, commerce, and trade for women. They highlighted the challenges of women businesses as the terms and procedure for getting a license with NEPA, lack of women’s industrial park close to or inside the city, and other related problems. Besides, they also proposed their recommendations to these challenges. Furthermore, they proposed the decentralization of authorities and decision-making to the provincial level in order to expedite the process.
The Deputy Governor of Kandahar assured women and industrialists about their security and business environment. In the end, Mr. Maiwandi appreciated the participation of the chambers as well as women sharing their problems in business and industry. He stated that we thrive to solve the mentioned problems particularly the problems and challenges that exist for businesses in the environment and the licensing procedure at NEPA. He emphasized on industrialists to be supportive of NEPA in order to avoid the environmental issues that exist.
