AWCCI officially launched its activities and General Assembly in the West Zone-Herat province on February 27th, 2018. The Launched was attended by around 150 women business owners, government dignitaries, AWCCI leadership from Kabul and media. The program was hosted by Arezo Ghafoori one of the participant in Herat province. The event opened by recitation of few verses of the Holy Quran. Subsequently, Ms. Manizha Wafeq President and one of the Founder of AWCCI welcomed all the participants specially Herat province Governor H.E. Mr. Mohammad Asif Rahimi, Director of Women Affair Herat Province Ms. Aziza Karimi, Deputy Governor Ms. Monisa Hasanzada, Women Entrepreneurs and all others. Ms. Wafeq briefly stated the establishment of AWCCI, Board of Directors, Advisory Board, seat of AWCCI in High Councils of policymaking and decisions making tables such as Economic Council. Later according to the agenda the First Lady’s video message was played. In his speech of Herat province Governor H.E. Mr. Mohammad Asif Rahimi expressed his contentment with launched of AWCCI in Herat province and announced his comprehensive support for improvement of women businesses in the province and neighboring provinces such as Ghor, Badghis and Farah. He added that, opening of AWCCI in Herat province will have positive effect on the women businesses and women will have specific address to refer their problems and improve their businesses. Consequently, Ms. Aziza Karimi Director of Women Affairs Herat province expressed her gratitude with the opening of AWCCI in this province.
In the launched ceremony, Ms. Nahid Hamidi, Trade Vice Chair of Board of Director AWCCI presented her brief speech. Later on the H.E. the Governor, Director of Women Affairs, AWCCI President and Herat province businesswomen by cutting the ribbon and prayers for the success of the chamber launched the activities.
In the next section, Ms. Wafeq presented the Bylaw of AWCCI and highlighted the terms of selection and responsibilities of Board of Directors in West-Zone. Based on the Bylaw, five members of the Board of Directors will be selected after transparent election. In consultation with businesswomen in West Zone that were present in the event, 10 businesswomen nominated themselves. After election and voting process the following five businesswomen were elected for the Board of Directors of AWCCI in West Zone are Ms. Maryam Jami, Sosan Bahbodzada, Romina Usmani, Lena Shafaq and Zhela Habibi.
