LEAD as a pprocess of its advocacy activities conducted an event was titled “Unifying Our Voice” in Herat Province, for 56-women business owners. The event was launched in the conference hall of women department affairs.
The purpose of the event was to give awareness to the women entrepreneurs in Herat province, Share the Strategic Advocacy Plan draft for their comments, feedbacks and exchange ideas on current problems faced by business owners and to find solutions for these challenges.
In the third part of the event election of the provincial committees took place the election process and terms of reference was presented for provincial committee by Rasool Ehsany, LEAD’s advocacy manager and Sultana Khaknizhad, Legal Expert. As a result Sediqa Tamasoki, Nafas Gul Jami, Shokria Habibi, Salima Sayed Zada and Mariam Jami Ahmadi got the highest votes and were introduced as elected Herat provincial committee.
In the fourth part of the event, the participants were divided into groups in order to discuss the challenges and solutions for their businesses in which the most challenges women owned business facing such as cultural barriers, lack of financial, insecurity, government official ignorance, illiteracy, lack of Islamic loan for women and lack of appropriate market for female entrepreneurs. LEAD’s executive team will advocate for those challenges with the governmental officials.
